Re: Computing on Demand...

Urgent announcement:

Stop Multi-coloring your text and making obnoxious opening statements, Mr. "Emperor Heresiarch Commander"!

But seriously...

Yep, online computing through Virtual Machine technology is pretty fascinating. I don't have the connection to support it, but in theory it's a pretty good idea.

Pros:

-No repair jobs.
-No operating system management.
-No virus worries, as your CSP (computing service provider) can backup your system, and revert it to its original state if it fails.
-No hardware management (forget about spending thousands of dollars upgrading your hardware to modern standards!)
-Complete cross platform functionality (surf the web on your BluRay! Play games on your TV box!)

Cons:

-You don't have direct access to your computer any more. This is a very sad thing for hackers and hobbiests like me.
-There's no such thing as private computing any more. Your computer will become part of a vast network, like a nexus. People will know what you keep on your computer, which can be dangerous.
-Computing will become a service like cell phones and internet providers. You won't have to pay very much for your client hardware, but you will have to pay monthly fees to keep the company from pulling the plug on your PC.
-Many people (including me!) don't have broadband, so trying to provide online computing to us simply isn't feasible. Obviously this will be one of the biggest problems, as there are millions of people who don't have broadband.

All in all, it's a good idea for some people (inexperienced users, people who can afford it), and for others it isn't (hobbiests, private owners, experienced users). What I hope, is that in the end the two technologies (personal/private computing, online computing) mingle together and build on eachother; I would hate to see personal computing trashed. I like my PC.

I'll stop using computers before I paid for a personal one that doesn't sit right next to me.
Sounds Great. Do it again.

Why does it say not available?

Curupira was banned because he posted a message in which he repeatedly explained to us what the "REAL GOD" is.
