Small 64x64 image of a gangster I drew for a wolf3d clone I'm writing:

In case you can't tell, he's wielding a tommy gun there. :)

Re: Work is DONE

Ah, that's right. Veritas does mean truth. I thought that verus meant truth, but I did a search and it seems that it means verify.

Lol, 3 years of Latin and I didn't get any of those words right. I'm completely out of practice. Oh well, I don't care anyway. :P

Re: Work is DONE

The game's still heavy in development, but I believe the game's working title is Veritas (Latin for Vice). When I signed on to be a programmer, I didn't really become a part of any team. The work was simply outsourced to me. I did get a very early alpha of the game to help me along, though, and it h...

Work is DONE

About 6 months ago, I was contacted by a fellow in Austria. I had apparently impressed him with some programming work I did for a Quake-like game I created with 3D Gamestudio , and, since he was writing a small shooter of his own, he wanted to hire me as a programmer. The man, as it turns out, happe...

The doom guy is holding those throwing stars rather strangely in those pics.

Gmod idiot box

I don't know if any of you have seen these videos before. They are pretty hilarious, in a random sort of way. I guess it's a sort of humor that you can easily relate to pure insanity, so if you aren't interested in that sort of thing you can just stop reading this post right here. Anyway, the movies...

Re: Frequent Random Screenshots from the team during develop

True. But I've seen better trees in other doom mods. So in the spirit of critique, I decided to bring it up. :P

Doom Alphas and Betas

This thread is for the alphas and betas of the original doom that id has generously released as freeware to us curious peoples. I found a lot of information on these alphas, as well as a bunch of download links, at this page . They really are quite interesting. It's neat to see how Doom transformed ...

Re: New idea for simple Hexen fan game

I realize with some annoyance that converting the 2D bitmaps for the characters in Hexen into a 3D bitmap by hand will be somewhat difficult. So, I plan to write a program to do it for me. You will feed two images into it. The images will all be of one character, just at different angles. As long as...

Re: New idea for simple Hexen fan game

Ok, here's a little more info on the technology we would be using for the game. The game would use 3D voxel sprites for the game objects (characters, weapons, trees, etc.) The game world would be composed of two voxel heightmaps, one for the floor, one for the ceiling. To form walls, all you need to...

Re: New idea for simple Hexen fan game

Thanks for the offer! Honestly though I don't think I'd be up to the task. I have little experience working with C++. I really only know C. Also, I've never worked in a programming team before, so I feel I'd slow the project down more than anything else. On top of all that, I have absolutely no expe...

New idea for simple Hexen fan game

I recently heard about a thing called the Doom Voxel Project headed by Team Hellspawn. They are taking some old doom sprites and converting them into 3D voxel models; basically they are turning the 2 dimensional bitmaps into 3 dimensional bitmaps. So far, I think the results have been awesome. For m...
