Re: Musical taste

Primarily video game music, other than that, mostly metal. Industrial would be my favorite I guess.

Re: Under the radar: Raven's Singularity

What the hell man, I wasn't even aware this had been released, and it's been on my watch list since 08! I gotta head on over to gamestop first thing in the morning!

Sheesh, so busy modding, things just go over my head these days...

If there's one type of person whom I wish never had access to a keyboard, it's the person who doesn't know what a freakin' period is and what it's used for.

EDIT: I forgot, no curse words.

Actually, the way I did it was by using the mouse to quickly 180 as soon as I went through.

I also seem to remember using some crazy technique like doing a full-on tilted run as I entered the teleporter, so that I was almost instantly facing the opposite direction when being dumped on the ledge.

Re: Heretic, Hexen, Hecatomb.

Romero has been gone from id for almost 14 years now. They've produced a number of games since he left. Also, the scale of games has increased greatly during that time. Doom took about a year to create, Quake took about a year and a half. In today's industry, completing a full-scale FPS in that wind...

Re: What happened to the old concept art of the 3 classes?

It be kind of great, if you had the time, to do fighter first, cleric, then mage, then leave a cliffhanger, leaving the players thinking what is going to happen next, and then make a sequel that uses mage first, then fighter, the cleric ending the battle. I hope you're aware, my above post was a cl...

Re: What happened to the old concept art of the 3 classes?

BTW I feel that Cleric should have been the last episode, and should have made it similar to starcraft where it is 6 episodes, Fighter is terran, Cleric is zerg, and Mage is protoss, thus making it fighter, cleric, mage, (leave cliffhanger here) mage, fighter, cleric, which gives cleric the final u...

Re: id tech 5

I really don't see id Tech 5's release as an issue for the mod. id Tech 4 is powerful and versatile enough that it can still be used to make some great games. Besides, the modding community doesn't have to use the newest, greatest thing to make something of quality. Just look at Out of Hell(Unreal 2...

Re: How did you come across Hexen?

WOW, 2006!?! I've had, and still have my heretic CD. Got it in the late 90's. Same here. In fact. I have all the original CDs for my games. Most of them in near-perfect condition. Hmm, I know I purchased Hexen in late '97, but I had first played it on my cousin's computer, either during '95 or '96,...

Re: A random newbie approaches!

I've only tried making a map in a 3D environment once. Never. Again. What it really depends on most is persistence. I felt the same way when I started mapping, but you just have to keep cracking away at it, even when you feel like putting your fists through the walls(which is a lot of the time at f...

Re: The Go-Off-Topic Topic

I actually don't *use* those discs. I back everything up and use the copied ISO's. Do you use Alcohol? I personally use Alcohol 52%. Wonderful program. I keep all of them in plastic in those special CD books that hold like 100 CD's per case or so. I've never used one of those, and the reason is thi...

Re: The Go-Off-Topic Topic

I had the same thing, the problem is though that after 10 years the physical carriers are worthless. Take my original Quake discs, Hexen discs, lots of games from 1999-2005. Most of them don't run any more on my 8-core system. Most of them have damage, I've had one CD (my original Heretic 2 CD) whi...

Same here, I've never had any trouble with Steam either. By the way, you can get the original Hexen on Steam. :)

Hopefully you didn't purchase the PC version. Sheesh, what a technical catastrophe that turned out to be.
